Kanpai Coffee and Beer Garden is a concept from acclaimed chef Michael Carranza is in the works at 215 Henry Street, the previous home of Mama Tried.

A recent article from Culture Map Dallas highlighted it as a “day-to-night” concept, since the concept will include options for all times of day and types of events.

Behind the concept is chef Michale Carranza, whose sushi spat Texas Sushiko was nominated for a Tastemakers Award for Best New Restaurant in 2022, as well as Tare, a multi-course culinary adventure in Austin.

Carranza graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in 2014 and launched his career at Uchi. He later trained under sushi master Takehiko Fuse, and has been instrumental in the opening of multiple Asian concepts across Texas.
