Dallas Cowboys fans are swapping excitement for concern as the 2024 NFL season approaches after discovering franchise quarterback Dak Prescott in a walking boot, hinting at an injury to his right foot. The sight has shadowed the fanbase's hope for next season, leaving supporters anxiously awaiting professional updates on Prescott's condition after he downplayed the matter.

An image of Prescott 's back, identifiable by his physical stature and signature right leg sleeve tattoo, revealed the quarterback in a walking boot on his right foot. Prescott was presumably accompanied by his girlfriend, Sarah Jane Ramos, who carried a transparent neon backpack that matched her vacation outfit. The couple were spotted at a boat dock in Los Cabos, surrounded by seven boats. Among them, one was labeled "Cabo San Lucas" and another "La Paloma."

The first report of Prescott's appearance came from an NFL insider based in Mexico, sparking widespread speculation. However, the Cowboys camp has chosen to remain silent about potential injuries, leaving fans hungry for official updates as the new season approaches.

Whispers of a lingering foot sprain have circulated, but reports from the vacation spot suggest that Prescott was easily moving around despite the boot. Prescott then clarified any issues with his foot , saying that the boot serves as maintenance to a past ankle fracture on the same leg in 2020.

Prescott injured his right ankle during the third quarter of a 2020 game against the New York Giants . Dallas emerged victorious with a 34-27 win. The injury occurred during a no-huddle shotgun play on first down. Prescott made a gutsy run up the middle of the Giants defense, only to be met with a tackle from Logan Ryan that left him sidelined.

Since the injury, the Cowboys quarterback has said that whether it's been publicly spotted or not, he's worn the boot at maintenance in the offseason since 2020. He told the media, “The same ankle, same issues. The last time I went deep sea fishing, my [ankle] swole up," said Prescott. “I’m great."

Last season, Prescott threw for 4,516 yards with a completion percentage of 69.5 percent, leading the league with 36 touchdowns against just nine interceptions. He had a passer rating of 105.9 and recorded the season's longest pass completion. During the memorable play, Prescott, under pressure in safety territory, executed a perfect pump fake, stepped up in the pocket, and launched a 92-yard bomb down the right sideline to CeeDee Lamb. The touchdown displayed his arm strength and adept playmaking and gave the Cowboys a 6-3 lead over the Detroit Lions .

In 2021, Prescott inked a monumental four-year, $160 million contract extension with Dallas, securing $126 million guaranteed. Considered a blockbuster deal at the time, the contract also included a no-trade clause and a no-tag provision, signaling Prescott's status as the franchise's cornerstone.

Following the 2024 season, Prescott will enter free agency as an unrestricted free agent should a deal with the team not manifest. With the Cowboys unable to use the franchise tag on him again, having already done so twice, his Dallas future holds a mix of uncertainty and opportunity after the offseason.
