On Saturday morning, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Greece men's national basketball team defeated Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic and the Slovenia national team, 96-68, in the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifying semifinals.

The loss officially eliminates Doncic and Slovenia from the Olympics. Antetokounmpo and Greece will move on to the qualifying finals to face the winner of the Croatia vs. Dominican Republic game.

Antetokounmpo recorded 13 points, four rebounds, and two assists while leading Greece to the qualifying semifinals win. Doncic recorded 21 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in the loss.

Slovenia made its first Olympic appearance in 2020 since its independence from Yugoslavia in 1991. They went 4-2 in the Tokyo Olympics, placing fourth overall and just missing out on a medal.

Greece has not qualified for the Olympics since 2008, when Giannis was only 14 years old. They placed fifth in the Beijing Olympics, going 3-3.

After losing in the NBA Finals 4-1 to the Boston Celtics, Doncic now has the rest of his offseason free of basketball with the loss to Greece. Doncic was challenged by the numerous injuries he faced throughout the playoffs and will get a chance to recover for the rest of the offseason.

Antetokounmpo suffered a left hamstring injury at the end of the season, keeping him out of the NBA Playoffs entirely. The Bucks were eliminated in the first round by the Indiana Pacers in his absence, but it appears he is healed up and ready for Sunday's Olympic qualifying finale.
