Dallas Cowboys among favorites to sign 2 former All-Pros in NFL free agency

The Dallas Cowboys must explore ways to bolster their roster ahead of training camp after what has been an uneventful offseason that saw Jerry Jones and Co. doing very little to improve the team.

Two positions the Cowboys could stand to improve at are offensive tackle and wide receiver, as Dallas has some question marks at both position groups. The Cowboys could use more depth at the latter, and a better starting option at the former.

In the betting odds from BetOnline for some of the top free agents remaining, the Cowboys are the favorite to sign one player, and among the favorites for another.

Dallas has the best odds (+300) to sign former New Orleans Saints wide receiver, Michael Thomas, and they have the fourth-best odds to sign former Green Bay Packers left tackle, David Bakhtiari.

The Cowboys aren't as high in the odds to sign former Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons, but they are tied for 11th.

Thomas isn't the same player he once was and his injury history is a major concern, but the Cowboys won't need him to be the alpha in the room.

In fact, he would be no better than third in the pass-catcher pecking order behind wideout CeeDee Lamb and tight end Jake Ferguson, and he could be as far down as fifth depending on how things go with Jalen Tolbert and Brandin Cooks.

At tackle, the Cowboys have Tyler Guyton, who is a total wild card as a rookie, and Terence Steele, who is coming off a dreadful campaign that saw him give up eight sacks and 54 pressures in 735 pass-block snaps at right tackle in 2023.

Granted, there are no shortage of concerns about Bakhtiari, who has been plagued by injury the past few seasons, but he would at least give the Cowboys a low-risk, high-reward option that could prove to be a massive upgrade over one of the aforementioned players.

Bakhtiari has said he wants to keep playing left tackle , so the Cowboys would have to put Guyton on the right side if the veteran doesn't want to budge on his stance. Based on the current situation, it's something Dallas should definitely consider.
