There are no big changes in the North Texas forecast Friday through Wednesday, with slightly above-average temperatures and some isolated storms dotting the area.

Friday morning started with a clear sky and temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. It will be sunny and hot again with afternoon highs in the upper 90s. The heat index will be around 102 degrees during peak heating. Wind will be light from the south.

The upper-level ridge of high pressure that's been baking the western United States will start to nose into the south central plains states this weekend and into next week. Dallas-Fort Worth will be on the southern fringes of this upper-level high, so temperatures won't be too bad for this time of the year. Afternoon highs will top out in the upper 90s through the period.

There is a slight chance for some showers and storms this weekend, mainly south of DFW, bu one or two could form along any outflow boundaries that work their way into North Texas.

Monday through Wednesday's weather doesn't look too bad. Afternoon highs will creep back into the upper 90s. There will be some showers and storms on the radar, especially west of Interstate 35W. An upper-level disturbance will get trapped in west-central Texas. This will be the culprit that produces the scattered storms.

By late Wednesday into Thursday, a cold front looks to slowly move through the area producing more widespread shower and thunderstorm activity. If this front stalls in the area, Friday through the weekend could be a bit wet. If it pushes well to the south, we'll just have one day of rain chances. It will be cooler by Thursday as well with highs in the 80s.
