Alamo Drafthouse announces reopening dates for all five North Texas theaters

After anearly two-month hiatus, Alamo Drafthouse announced Friday the reopenings of all of its Dallas-Fort Worth locations .

The partner company that owned the five Alamo franchises in North Texas filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy in June. Alamo has made a quick turnaround after Sony Pictures acquired the entire theater chain in June; all five DFW-area theaters will reopen this August.

Alamo says the five locations will be back better than ever with upgrades like new screens and projectors. And the Las Colinas location will be adding recliner chairs.

“Our number one goal throughout this difficult period has been to do right by the former teammates and get back to providing the exceptional cinema experience our guests deserve,” Alamo Drafthouse CEO Michael Kustermann said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to say that that goal is in sight and that we’ll have teammates and guests back in those theaters very soon.”

Kusterman and team will be hosting a hiring fair for the past employees on July 23 at the Lake Highlands location. The goal of the hiring fair is to pay back the employees the lost wages they have not yet received from before the theater closure, and to give them first opportunity to work there again.

“Those who are rehired will receive a more robust benefits plan with immediate eligibility, including access to daily pay, substantial 401(k) match, paid medical leave, accrued PTO, free mental health services,” Alamo Drafthouse said in a press release .

• Alamo Drafthouse Richardson, 100 S Central Expy #14, Richardson – Aug. 9

• Alamo Drafthouse Lake Highlands, 6770 Abrams Rd, Dallas – Aug. 13

• Alamo Drafthouse Cedars, 1005 Botham Jean Blvd, Dallas – Aug. 16

• Alamo Drafthouse Denton, 3220 Town Center Tr, Denton – Aug. 20

• Alamo Drafthouse Las Colinas, 320 W Las Colinas Blvd. building A2, Irving – Aug. 23

Two weeks after each reopening, each theater will celebrate with $5 tickets as well as 25% off select food and beverage items. Guests who bought tickets but did not get to see films due to the shutdowns will receive free ticket vouchers in their emails. Season pass members will also have the opportunity to repurchase their membership and have the first two months for free.
