A four-alarm fire broke out Friday evening at a local Dallas church.

Flames could be seen engulfing the First Baptist Church on San Jacinto Street, with images quickly made available on social media. The roof of the structure has now collapsed.

Dallas Fire-Rescue Captain Robert Borse issued the statement below:

Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) is currently battling a two-alarm fire in a building located at 1717 San Jacinto Street.  The initial call was received at 6:05pm, and crews arrived on scene at 6:09pm.

First arriving crews were confronted with heavy smoke and fire conditions involving the structure and immediately initiated fire attack operations.  A second alarm was quickly requested at 6:20pm.

This is an active fire scene with rapidly developing details.  I will provide further updates as information becomes available.

KRLD's Joe Kelley shot video of the incident.

The First Baptist Church also released a statement published on its Facebook page.

    PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR CHURCH.

We have experienced a fire in the Historic Sanctuary.

To our knowledge, no one is hurt or injured, and we thank God for His protection. He is sovereign even in the most difficult times.

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28

We will keep you updated as we prepare to come together to worship.

This remains a developing story. Check back for updates.
