The Dallas Cowboys’ postseason failures continued in the 2023 season with a surprising loss in the Wild Card Round at the hands of the Green Bay Packers.

Finishing atop the NFC East, the Cowboys had a lot going for them as they headed into the playoffs.

Despite some great performances by the main star players, the Cowboys struggled when it mattered the most. But what the recent seasons have shown is that Dallas has the potential to go deep into the playoffs and maybe even emerge as a Super Bowl winner by the end of the season.

Here we take a look at five reasons why the Dallas Cowboys can win the Super Bowl this season.

Dak Prescott’s MVP Caliber 2023 Season

Cowboys’ starter under center Dak Prescott bounced back last season from a dismal 2022 campaign. With 4,516 passing yards that included 36 touchdowns and just nine interceptions, he had one of the best seasons of his career thus far. He was also a frontrunner for the majority of the season in the race for the MVP.

It is safe to say that barring any major catastrophe, Prescott should have another stellar year. Even if he can replicate or achieve nearly a similar level of play as last year, that will be a major boost for the Cowboys in their pursuit of Super Bowl LIX.

    CeeDee Lamb

CeeDee Lamb has clearly established himself as a key difference maker on the team and is the number one go-to player for Prescott in the passing game. He has shown his ability to learn and grow year by year which is a testament to his increasing productivity after each season.

His health will be a crucial factor for Dallas as he will have to carry the bulk load of the receiving duties again in the 2024-25 season.

    Micah Parsons

What Prescott and Lamb are on offense is what Parsons is on defense. The most important piece of their defense, Parsons will be looking to have an even better season than the one he had in 2023.

Entering his fourth season in the NFL, Parsons has a big year ahead of him as he is still under contract negotiations with the Texas-based franchise. But with 2025 being the fifth year of his rookie contract, he will have a lot to prove this season as well.

If the former Penn State linebacker can have a career year, there is every chance he can lead Dallas to the Super Bowl.

    Defense

The Cowboys have a number of stars and game-changers on both sides of the ball. However, while Parsons leads their defense, the overall unit is also in capable hands.

Trevon Diggs has emerged as a leading cornerback and he would be raring to go after an ACL injury cut short his season to just two games in 2023. He is joined in the secondary by DaRon Bland who is coming off a spectacular season with a record-setting five pick six’s.

Second-year defensive tackle Mazi Smith is also expected to break through after having a sub-par rookie season last year.

    Regular Postseason Woes Motivation

The last time the Dallas Cowboys even made it to the NFC Championship Game was way back in 1995 when they went on to win their fifth Super Bowl. Since then it has been heartbreaking losses in the Wild Card or the Divisional rounds.

When Mike McCarthy was appointed as the head coach of the Cowboys in 2020, there was great belief that Dallas could lift the Lombardi Trophy once again. McCarthy has guided the team to three consecutive 12-5 seasons resulting in three postseasons but the Cowboys have failed to progress deeper in the playoffs.

Now, it has come to the point where the entire team is motivated to bring home a sixth Championship with quality players who have what it takes to go all the way.
