Being stamped into history in 1927, in Dallas, Texas, as the "world's first convenience store", 7-Eleven holds a special place in global retail.

Currently under new management by SEJ Asset Management and Investment Company, an offshoot of Seven-Eleven Japan Co., Ltd., the iconic brand is ramping up for a major transformation at its U.S. stores .

Having overcome some sizeable supply chain obstacles, plans are now well underway for a full-on makeover .

A significant revamp incorporating influences of Japanese culture will be seen in the design, ambience, and product offering across a selection of U.S. stores.

The menu will also get a fresh new look, with hot dogs and Slurpees making way for a broader variety of fresher options such as sushi, sandwiches, fried chicken and desserts.

CEO Ryuichi Isaka stressed tackling the supply chain issues ahead of rolling out these important changes, stating: "We believe that we need to transition our business model from one reliant on gasoline and cigarettes to a model where customers are drawn to us for our product offerings. Fresh food is pivotal in driving this transformative shift."
