"It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt."

And that was the motto of the Dallas Cowboys' first padded practice of training camp after Sam Williams went down with a torn ACL and MCL .

In the wake of Williams' season-ending injury, the Cowboys plan to work out "some pass rushers," including veteran Carl Lawson, ESPN's Todd Archer reported on Wednesday.

Lawson, 29, is no stranger to the Cowboys' coaching staff after having played under defensive run game coordinator Paul Guenther with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The former fourth-round pick in 2017 spent his four years with Cincy and the last three seasons with the New York Jets.

Lawson played six games last season for the Jets, logging five tackles with no sacks and no quarterback hits.

In 74 career games with 31 starts, Lawson has racked up 119 tackles, 28 for loss, and 27 sacks.

With Williams down, the Cowboys will lean heavier on rookie Marshawn Kneeland, along with Durrell Johnson and Junior Fehoko. Of course, Dallas still has star pass-rush duo Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence, but Lawson would offer some affordable emergency depth .
