On average, August is the hottest and driest month of the year. Thursday and Friday will get progressively hotter with heat advisories, with a slight chance of showers and storms on Saturday before temperatures slowly heat back up next week.

High temperatures on Wednesday hit 97 degrees and on Thursday they'll come close to 100. On Friday, afternoon highs will range from 98 to 103 degrees with heat index values at or above 105.

The weekend is approaching and so will a weak cold front on Saturday. This front will spark some scattered showers and storms in Oklahoma late Friday. Some of these may sneak across the Red River by late evening before dissipating after midnight into Saturday morning. There could be scattered showers and storms anywhere across North Texas on Saturday, but most of the area will stay dry. Afternoon highs will be near 100.

Sunday will be partly cloudy and hot again. Scattered showers and storms are possible to the south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with afternoon highs in the upper 90s.

This weak cold front washes out next week as high pressure builds back into the area in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Temperatures will be near 100 degrees on Monday, 101 on Tuesday, and 102 on Wednesday. Humidity levels won't be bad in the afternoon hours, but heat index values will still be at or slightly above 105.
