The Dallas Mavericks have a lot to be excited about as they prepare for the 2024-25 NBA season. Signing star sharpshooter Klay Thompson was the biggest move of the offseason, but the smaller moves, including the acquisitions of Naji Marshall, Quentin Grimes, and Spencer Dinwiddie should also help Dallas in its quest to get back to the NBA Finals.
Mavs fans have already seen Thompson and Marshall playing in open runs this summer, and now, a video has surfaced of Grimes doing the same. Last weekend, Grimes was seen putting on a show at the Elite Pro Run .
The Mavs expect Grimes to be a more well-rounded 3-and-D wing than Josh Green was. During the open run, Grimes displayed his ability to create his own offense in transition by driving to the rim as well as getting open with off-ball cuts to the rim. If Grimes can be that versatile heading into his fourth season, opposing teams will face a tall task trying to slow down the Mavs' offense.
In 168 career games through three seasons, Grimes has averaged 8.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while shooting 42.8 percent from the floor, including 37.1 percent from deep. Grimes had a breakout sophomore season with the New York Knicks, as he started in 66 of his 71 games played and averaged 11.3 points while shooting 46.8 percent overall and 38.6 percent on 3s.

There's no reason to think Grimes can't produce at that same level this coming season while playing with the star backcourt of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Factor in Thompson and all the other weapons Dallas has at its disposal, and it's clear that Grimes won't be pressured to do more than he's capable of doing. He just has to go out there and ball out like he's doing in these offseason open runs.
