Voters to decide on Loutit District Library millage Aug. 6
Voters in the Grand Haven public library’s district will decide on a 10-year supplemental millage for the library at the ballot box on Aug. 6. Loutit District Library is asking for a 10-year supplemental levy at a rate of 0.1557, costing taxpayers $15.57 per $100,000 assessed property value and generating $450,000 annually for the library. If passed, this supplemental millage would bring the overall tax up to 1.0967 mills.

Muskegon plans $30K for new DIY skate park
MUSKEGON, MI - After existing in disrepair for years, the skate park at Muskegon’s Seyferth Park is next in line for a makeover. “Once this fell apart and they removed it, anybody who’s in the skate scene in Muskegon, we go out somewhere else,” said Brian Cook, standing near what’s left of the skate park; a half pipe and some rails. “It used to be a huge thing. Even at this point of the day 20 years ago, you’d come up here and there’d already be people skating and there’d be people sitting on bleachers, or in the grass, watching people.”

Ann Elizabeth Burdick, 70, of Hesperia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at home. She was born January 13, 1954, in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England, to Cecil F. and Phyllis N. (Morris) Nash. She was the third of four children, including her sisters, Judy (Pete) Floyd and Heather (Malcom) Simpson; and brother, Philip (Sue) Nash.
Millage supporting Ottawa County seniors up for renewal
OTTAWA COUNTY - A millage that funds programming for senior citizens in Tri-Cities - Grand Haven, Spring Lake, and Ferrysburg - is up for renewal on the Aug. 6 ballot. The North Ottawa County Council on Aging Millage renewal proposal requests 0.2500 mills ($0.2500 per $1,000 of taxable value) for 10-years, 2025 through 2034. The funding supports a large portion of the budget to operate the Grand Haven-based Four Pointes Center for Successful Aging that provides a variety of services and programming to seniors.
