DALTON , Ohio (WJW) — An 11-year-old Navarre boy was transported to a hospital after he allegedly took his grandparent’s car then crashed it, causing the car to flip multiple times, according to state troopers.

It happened at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol crash report.

The boy was headed north in the 2008 Lexus GS on Deerfield Avenue Southwest in Dalton, Wayne County , then went off the left side of the roadway just before Davis Road and hit a ditch and a culvert, according to the report.

The car overturned several times, and the side air bag deployed, according to the report. The boy was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries.

He was wearing a shoulder and lap belt at the time of the crash, according to the report. The speed limit on that stretch of road is 55 mph. It’s unknown how fast the car was traveling.
