With business booming at its facilities in Holmes and Tuscarawas counties, ProVia, plans to expand into the Wayne County market by purchasing two Dalton properties.

"The Dalton properties represent the first footprint for ProVia in Wayne County," said Joe Klink, ProVia's executive director of corporate engagement. "The location was chosen for its supportive business climate and well-qualified local workforce. The alignment of values is important to us."

The includes the main building at 630 Henry St., which has about 303,000 square feet of retail and manufacturing space located on 24.5 acres, and has high visibility from U.S. Route Route 30. A property of about four acres located a little more than a mile away, 1543 Zuercher Road, and contains a 22,500-square-foot warehouse, also is being purchased by ProVia.

The Henry Street property houses P. Graham Dunn, which is a retail and wholesale outlet for wood crafted home decore. The manufacturing of the products is done at the property.

The properties are owned by Toop and Toop II LLC. Attempts to reach Peter Dunn of Toop and Toop II LLC about the sale were unsuccessful as of Thursday afternoon.ProVia plans to use the properties for manufacturing. The main building will be renovated to prepare for future production needs. The purchase would not include the P. Graham Dunn business operations, which has been operating under a lease agreement. An adjacent Silver Linden Park and Playground property also will not be included in the purchase.

Space to be used for manufacturing of steel entry doors

"We're a manufacturing company, and at this facility, there is a lot of retail space, which doesn't do much for us," Klink said. "We'll go in and do some renovations there and turn it into manufacturing space for our steel entry doors, which are currently made at our initial facility here in Walnut Creek."

Klink said the company is quickly nearing capacity at the Walnut Creek facility.

"We didn't pursue this opportunity, it actually pursued us," he said about the Dalton properties. "We saw the footprint of that building fit the needs that we have, and that led to our efforts to get this deal done."

Continued growth at ProVia with near 2,200 employees

"We have certainly been blessed. I've been here 23 years. It was a couple hundred people when I started," Klink said. "In 2019, we were around 900 people, and here, five years later, we're at 2,200 employees."

ProVia recently purchased and renovated the Times-Reporter building in New Philadelphia. A manufacturing plant near Strasburg that opened in 2020, where ProVia manufactures windows, already has had to expand.

"Because of the growth we've been experiencing, we always try to stay ahead of it with master facility planning," Klink said. "We don't want to get stuck with long lead times or not being able to fulfill orders."

ProVia, which manufactures doors and windows, is taking job applications at provia.com/careers. Job applications can be submitted in-person at any ProVia location.
