Update: Wind advisory for Oregon Lower Treasure Valley until early Wednesday morning
On Tuesday at 12:35 p.m. the National Weather Service issued an updated wind advisory valid from 7 p.m. until Wednesday 5 a.m. for Oregon Lower Treasure Valley. "Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected," describes the weather service. "Visibilities may be locally reduced in blowing dust."

Kicking off September 26, the event will host over 60 mushroom-related workshops and special events with authors and experts from Palestine, Japan, Ireland and across North America. Hands-on workshops and presentations will cover a range of topics, including low-cost mushroom growing, medicinal mushroom processing, the strangeness of fungal biology, citizen science in mycology (the study of fungi), sustainable living via fungi, and ways that mushrooms have influenced human cultures throughout history.

The Safe Rest Pods situated on SW 17th Avenue, close to Winco and Dairy Creek Park, are providing a crucial service as the interim solution for those grappling with homelessness. This temporary housing initiative has been active since its reopening in December 2023, offering a safe haven to roughly 30 to 40 individuals and couples each night, inclusive of their pets.
