The search has resumed for two men who went missing after jumping off a boat on Candlewood Lake in Danbury late Monday night. The two men, a 26-year-old and a 38-year-old, were part of a group of five who spent the day on the lake. Around 10:15 p.m., the two men jumped into the water and did not resurface. The others on the boat noticed their absence and immediately called 911. A large-scale search and rescue operation was launched, involving dive teams from Danbury and Brookfield police, the Northeast Underwater Search and Rescue (NUSAR) team, and Region Five. Rescue boats from Danbury, Brookfield, Sherman, New Fairfield, NUSAR, Region Five, the Candlewood Lake Authority, and Ball Pond also joined the effort. Brookfield police deployed an air drone to assist with the search. The Salvation Army, Danbury Volunteers from Squad 19 and Squad 31 provided scene support. The search was suspended around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. The search resumed Tuesday morning with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) leading the investigation. Candlewood Town Park and the Danbury boat launch are closed to the public, and boaters are asked to avoid the area. "
