Florida Invasion Expected For Must See Sprint Cars Visit to Sandusky
The next time the Must See Racing Sprint Series Presented by Perfit-Parts hits the track, it will do so with an abundance of drivers either living in Florida, or who were born in Florida. Seven drivers in total are entered for the Wednesday, July 24 event at Sandusky Speedway in Sandusky, Ohio. The event will also feature the Maxima Racing Oils Midwest Lights Series to give fans a lot of winged sprint car racing. Open Wheel Modifieds are also on the racing program.
Gold Medal winner speaks at First Shot Ceremony
The Civilian Marksmanship Program's First Shot Ceremony on Monday served as the traditional start to the century-old National Matches. The 117th National Matches will run through Aug. 10 at the Camp Perry National Guard Training Facility, featuring smallbore rifle, air gun, pistol, highpower rifle, vintage rifle and long range rifle events for adults and juniors.

Wickliffe man involved in two-vehicle crash in Milan Township
A 62-year-old Avon Lake man was seriously injured July 17 in a two-vehicle crash in Milan Township, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Troopers responded at 2:54 p.m. on state Route 113 at Kelley Road in Milan Township for the crash involving a motorcycle and a truck. A 33-year-old Wickliffe man was operating a 2022 Freightliner M2 straight truck that collided with the 1965 Harley Davidson Electra Glide the Avon Lake man was driving west on Route 113, according to the release. Commissioners OK Children Services levy, discuss plans for regional sewer district
The Lorain County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Friday to place a 1.8-mill, five-year renewal levy for Lorain County Children Services on the November ballot. The board also discussed early plans for a regional sewer district including Lorain County and Vermilion, the so-called "6119 plan" after the Ohio Revised Code statute that allows for the creation of those districts.
