256,444 Photographs from NASA’s Glenn Research Center Added to National Archives (NARA) Catalog
We’re pleased to announce that 256,444 photographs from NASA’s Glenn Research Center have recently been added to the National Archives Catalog. The photos document facilities, personnel, and aeronautic and space technology development at the Glenn Research Center (GRC) in Cleveland, Ohio and at Plum Brook Station1 in Sandusky, Ohio. Also included are publicity photos, as well as images documenting various types of accidents. The photographs in this series were taken between 1943 and 2004; as such, many of the photos are credited to NASA in addition to its predecessor, the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA).

Lake Erie Charter Life
Captains were few and far between in 1979, when Tibbels Marina in Marblehead, Ohio got into the fishing charter business on Lake Erie. A few years earlier, in 1975, the state had 46 captains on Lake Erie. A few years later, when the Tibbels family launched its first boat, there were about 156. With walleye and yellow perch populations fluctuating over the decades, so did charter numbers — with a high of 1,229, in 1989. Now, there are 936 captains in Ohio, with most operating out of the Western Basin.
Cedar Point’s new Boardwalk Nights event kicks off this weekend
SANDUSKY, Ohio – Cedar Point kicks off a new signature summertime event this weekend, Boardwalk Nights, with entertainment, games, food, dancing and more fun. The event runs 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. every evening, July 19 through Aug. 18, excluding Tuesdays. Activities take place in the park’s new Boardwalk area, near the front of the park, and along the mile-long Lake Erie beach.

I paint rocks as a hobby, hide them in public places & watch for them to be posted on Ohio Rocks fb pages. Huron woman injured in two-vehicle crash in Vermilion Township
A 67-year-old Huron woman was seriously injured July 17 in a two-vehicle crash in Vermilion Township, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The woman was driving a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee at 5:30 p.m. headed east on state Route 60 at Mason Road and failed to yield to traffic from the posted stop sign, according to the release.
Game on at Sports Force Parks
----- If you have kids who play sports, chances are you've ventured out to "Sports Force," which is how locals refer to the sprawling athletic complex east of Sandusky. Sports Force Parks opened for business seven years ago, and in the years since thousands of kids have enjoyed playing baseball, softball, soccer and other sports at one of the best venues in the nation.

SANDUSKY— On Tuesday, Sandusky police hosted a summer ice cream social event at Foxborough Park. Officers handed out popsicles to kids at the neighborhood greenspace. “We take great pride in our relationship with the community,” Sandusky police Sgt. Bronson Lillo said. “These types of events, especially geared toward the kids, are really important to us.”
