Colorado Preservation, Inc. (CPI) announced today that proposals to present at the Saving Places Conference 2025 will be accepted now through Monday, August 12, 2024.

Colorado Preservation, Inc. (CPI) will host the Saving Places® 2025 Conference: Rooted in Community: Celebrating Intangible Heritage in Preservation at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, CO Wednesday January 29, 2025 through Saturday, February 1, 2025. The theme of Intangible Heritage is an aspect of preservation often overlooked but one that has gained momentum in recent years. Intangible heritage encompasses the cultural, social and historical practices, traditions, knowledge and expressions deeply rooted in a community’s identity and collective memory. The theme advocates for a more comprehensive approach to preservation, recognizing its role in preserving cultural diversity and fostering senses of identity and continuity within communities.

CPI is looking for session proposals that embrace this theme, or that address current issues such as sustainability, climate change, project funding, advocacy, or other foundational issues that are important to preservation practitioners. Each proposal should include clear takeaways that attendees can bring back to their own projects and communities. Stories of preservation of the underrepresented and voices that have been lost, sidelined, or overlooked within the community and beyond are encouraged.

The Saving Places® conference is the largest statewide preservation conference in the nation. It provides critical training, networking, and educational opportunities to support residents, professionals, and communities involved and new to cultural and historic preservation.

For more information visit SavingPlacesConference.org. Conference questions should be directed to Stephanie Bakken at sbakken@coloradopreservation.org, 303.893.4260 x230. Session proposals may be submitted now through Monday, August 12th, 2024 at https://form.jotform.com/240024268774154 and session leaders will be notified if selected, in October.
