September is Diaper Needs Awareness Month, and Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation (RMCHF) is putting out the call for diaper donations. Diapers are essential for keeping children clean, dry, and healthy, and with diaper need affecting 1 in 2 US families, diaper donations are critically important.

On Wednesday, September 25, RMCHF will hold a diaper drive at our office in Arvada. Clean, unused diapers (including Newborn to Size 6 diapers, pull-ups, and baby wipes) can be dropped off between 6 am and 10 am at 5394 Marshall Street, Suite 400,Arvada, CO, 80002. Opened packages of diapers are accepted.

    About Diaper Needs Awareness Month:

    – Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation provides essential items to families navigating their child’s medical journey, including diapers.

    – By providing diapers to these families, RMCHF helps cover their essential needs so they can focus on their child’s health and wellbeing.

    – 1 in 2 US families struggle to afford clean diapers for their children.

    – Diaper need is the lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep a baby or toddler clean, dry, and healthy.

    – Without an ample supply of diapers, children often spend longer periods of time in soiled diapers, causing health risks including urinary tract infections, diaper rash, and other serious health complications.

    – Most childcare facilities require parents to provide a daily supply of disposable diapers for their child. 1 in 4 parents end up missing work or school because they cannot afford enough diapers and end up having to keep their child out of daycare/school.

    – Without diapers, children can miss out on early education programs.

    – Children living in poor and low-income families are at greatest risk of diaper need.

How to Donate Diapers to RMCHF

    – Diapers can be donated at the RMCHF office at 5394 Marshall Street, Suite 400, Arvada, CO, 80002.

    – All sizes of diapers are accepted (newborn to size 6, and pull ups) as well as unopened packages of wipes.

    – Parents who have diapers that no longer fit their child can donate open boxes of diapers, as long as they are clean.

    – Those who cannot drop off diapers but would like to support these families can shop our online diaper wishlist. Diaperspurchased through the wishlist will be shipped directly to the Foundation.

    – Organizations can host their own diaper drives and bring donated diapers to our office in Arvada. Anyone interested should reach out to giving@rmchildren.org.

    Colorado Diaper Need Facts

    – 30% of babies and toddlers in Colorado have families earning less than 200% of FPL

    – In Colorado, an average monthly supply of diapers costs between $80 to $100.
