Make a Teacher's Dream Come True

The Nathan Yip Foundation announced today that Colorado residents can help fund the dreams of teachers in their communities now through October 11, 2024. Visit MidAutumn RTGrants | Powered By GiveSmart to view more than 200 rural teacher grant requests and donate directly to help fund a teacher’s dream.

“Each year we hold several events including our most recent Mid-Autumn Moon Festival to raise funds that we disperse through grants to rural Colorado teachers,” Jill Shenkel Henwood, Executive Director of the Nathan Yip Foundation said. “This year, we received more than 200 requests for grants. In order to fund as many teacher grants as possible, we are holding an online fundraiser for the next three weeks so that people can see the requests and directly help make a teacher’s dream come true.”

It’s easy to help. Simply visit MidAutumn RTGrants | Powered By GiveSmart and click on the items tab along the top, or the View & Support Grant Requests button. Search by school, subject/ educational area, or town/location (even a specific teacher’s name) to view grant requests and make a donation now through October 11, 2024.

Teachers who work in 140+ rural or small rural school districts in Colorado applied to fund a dream they have for their students. The grants they are requesting will be used for just about anything that positively impacts students, whether it be a classroom, materials or an outing to expose students to something new, a classroom kit of tech training tools, or maybe an exciting new program for the school/classroom that isn’t covered in the district’s budget.

The Nathan Yip Foundation’s mission is to empower Colorado students, staff and schools in an effort to address the educational and opportunity inequities that can exist between rural and urban schools in the state. Teachers look at these grants as a chance to provide opportunities/experiences for students that might not be otherwise be possible, either in the classroom or in school-related extracurricular activities. In 2023, the Nathan Yip Foundation funded 69 teacher grant requests and with this three week fundraiser hopes to fund as many of the 2024 requests as possible.
