PlatteForum announced today that a free Autumn Social will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. in the A.I.R. Annex Gallery at 3575 Ringsby Court in Denver.

PlatteForum is a local nonprofit organization that connects youth and artists with the resources to reach their full potential while addressing the social issues that matter most to them and their communities. The organization hosts artists in residence, free art exhibits and community events and runs an arts-education internship program for high school teens call ArtLab.

The community is invited to join PlatteForum for this special Autumn event where guests will have an opportunity to meet the new executive director, Jen Olson, and share stories, ideas and experiences with PlatteForum leaders.

“I am a mission-driven individual who believes that art is essential to human expression and human connection,” Executive Director Jen Olson said. “As my staff and I think about the future of PlatteForum and the youth we serve through programs like ArtLab, I hope the community will come say hello and tell us about their connection to our organization! The feedback we receive at the event will help us as we strive to truly have an impact on the youth we serve and the Denver art community.”

As part of the event, guests will also get a sneak peek of the work Artist in Residence Eileen Roscina is preparing for her upcoming exhibition which will focus on the disconnection from the environment that fuels the myth that humans are the most important entity on the planet. Eileen’s art practice challenges this fallacy by examining what nature can teach us about being human. This exhibition, which opens November 8, 2024, will challenge the viewer to slow down, shift perception into the present and act as an inquiry into material ephemerality—and our own mortality.
