DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — An organization is making sure kids with special needs in Vermilion County have fun this summer.

The Danville Chapter of AMBUCS is holding its annual camp this week and next. It’s done it for more than 50 years. Around 40 kids go to water parks, roller skating, take boat rides, go bowling, and more.

The camp counselors are all volunteers, but the directors say they’re happy to do it because of what it means to the campers and their families.

“We constantly get remarks that their child’s life has changed,” President Diane Carlton said. “They love going bowling and to the theater and to the pool and, you know, just being able to be just like you and I were when we were kids.
