Fire to duplex north of Newman University prompts strong emergency response
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A fire at a duplex in a neighborhood near Newman University prompted a strong emergency response Friday night. The initial emergency call reported the possibility of someone being trapped in the home in the 700 block of South Custer. Responding crews with the Wichita Fire Department cleared the scene and Sedgwick County dispatch confirmed that no one was injured.
Renovated Sams Chapel Reopening This Fall
One of the most notable buildings on the campus of Kansas Wesleyan University will reopen this fall, refurbished and remodeled. According to KWU, a fully renovated Sams Chapel will reopen Saturday, Oct. 19, as part of Homecoming 2024. The new performance space will be christened with a special concert, titled ‘Come Home,’ which will get underway at 7 p.m. and feature celebrated musical guests from KWU’s recent past. Aine Hakamatsuka ’12 and Christian McQueen ’18 are among those scheduled to perform.
