During the Danville City Commission meeting on June 24, the commission passed the second reading of  Ordinance 2032, which approves the city of Danville’s budget for the fiscal year of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. The city has a total budget of $52,695,605.

The commission approved a bid to create a crossing for Clarks Run Trail, which goes across Stanford Avenue. The project was awarded to the Allen Paving Company for a total of $163,819. Danville will be reimbursed $90,000 through a state grant. A section of the road will be widened with a pedestrian island in the middle. City Engineer Josh Morgan explained that this project has been in the works for many years and is a necessary step to have a designated crossing for the trail.

In other news, the commission also passed the following ordinances:

    • Second reading of Ordinance 2033 – The Alcoholic Beverage Control alcohol sale license fee has been made a uniform five percent for all applicants.
    • First reading of Ordinance 2034 – amends the 2024 Fiscal Year budget to match the final numbers of the fiscal year.
