Middleton Library Receives $10,000 Donation
The Middleton Library was thrilled to announce the Friends of the Middleton Community Library received another generous $10,000 donation from an anonymous local donor through the American Endowment Foundation. In June 2023, the Library also received a generous donation. This gift will be used to benefit the Middleton Community Library. The Library staff wants to give a huge thank you to this donor for their support for our library and community.
Former Weakley County schools student sues district for discrimination
WEAKLEY COUNTY, Tenn. — The young woman at the center of a local graduation controversy has now filed a lawsuit against her former school district. In May, Kennedy Lee shared her story, and said she and two other classmates with disabilities were forced to sit separately from the graduation ceremony floor at Greenfield High School.
UT Martin preseason favorites to win the Big South-OVC
UT Martin has been voted the favorite in the Big South-OVC Football Association preseason football poll for the 2024 campaign by the league’s head coaches. The Skyhawks, the Big South-OVC co-champions a year ago, received five of the nine first-place votes and 61 points to claim the top spot. Overall UT Martin has won or shared three-straight Conference championships, coming a 15-2 league record over the past three seasons. Eastern Illinois, who finished last year ranked No. 24 in the FCS Coaches Poll, picked up two first-place votes and 53 points to be picked second, while Southeast Missouri earned the other two first-place votes and 51 points in being tabbed third.

City of Dickson to Consider Tornado Siren System
The City of Dickson is considering the installation of an outdoor warning system that could alert citizens to possible tornadoes or other severe weather. At the July 15 Finance and Management Committee meeting, Kathy Hovis of Sirens for Cities, Inc. and Major Todd Christian of the city’s Office of Emergency Management presented proposals for an outdoor warning system with three or nine pole-mounted sirens, with price tags of $112,000 and $300,000.
Jaylin Ayer speeds down Fort Campbell Boulevard at 69 mph on revoked license
27-year-old Jaylin Ayer was caught speeding and driving on a suspended license near Ringgold Fine Wine & Spirits on Fort Campbell Boulevard on July 2nd. While stationary at the Park-it Market on Fort Campbell Boulevard, officers observed a motorcycle traveling above the speed limit. Officers observed the motorcycle driving at 69 mph and conducted a traffic stop. The motorcycle was parked in the Ringgold Fine Wine & Spirits parking lot, and officers contacted Ayer. Upon speaking with Ayer, they noticed that he had a revoked driver’s license, which has been revoked since January 25th, 2023. Officers also noticed that Ayer had more than two failure to appear in court charges within the last two years. Officers deemed that he would likely not appear in court again. Ayer was then taken into custody for driving on a suspended license and speeding.
