Buena Vista K9 officer receives protective vest donation
BUENA VISTA, Va. (WSET) — One local K9 officer will be better-protected thanks to a donation of body armor. Buena Vista Police Department's K9 Hans received a bullet- and stab-protective vest from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a non-profit organization. The vest was sponsored by the Nancy Allison Perkins Foundation of Flossmoor, Illinois, and is embroidered with the words, "Honoring those who served and sacrificed."
Brenden Queen beats Connor Hall in Hampton Heat slugfest
The Hampton Heat 200 came down to another Langley Speedway slugfest between Brenden Queen and Connor Hall. They both nearly threw it away and gave it to Peyton Sellers. In the end, Queen was able to get the last slug in and drove away to win the biggest race of the season at his home track for the second year in a row and third time overall.

Structure fire on Cedar Branch Road is under investigation: Firefighters
(WSET) — The Boonsboro Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company said there was a structure fire on Cedar Branch Road on Sunday night. Firefighters said Boonsboro (1st due), Squad 3, Forest Fire Department (2nd due, and RIT) responded to Cedar Branch Road for a reported structure fire with smoke in the residence.
Flood Warning in Effect Until 1:30 PM Monday
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A flood warning is in effect until 1:30 this (Monday) afternoon. The National Weather Service says small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected for a portion of central Virginia including Albemarle County and Charlottesville. Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. At 729 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area.
