    Vickery Village That Is

The mixed-use village concept is nothing new. Avalon and Halcyon in Alpharetta may be better known, but Cumming, Georgia led the way with Vickery Village.

Two years before Avalon opened and seven years before Halcyon, this little village at the intersection of Majors and Post Roads has been a popular destination and place to live since 2013.

Although it has a smaller footprint than either Avalon or Halcyon, Vickery Village still boasts 200,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, and office space. It is also home to the massive YMCA of Forsyth County, offering a full range of fitness classes and facilities. And finally, it is the location of Georgia's Own Credit Union, a full-service financial institution dating back to 1934.

Vickery Village in Cumming, Georgia, is surrounded by beautiful townhomes and residences of all shapes and sizes. It is within walking distance from Vickery Creek Middle School and just across the street from the UFA Soccer Fields at Polo Fields. And although Vickery Village has a distinct in-town vibe, an old horse farm can be seen across the street from many of the outdoor patios.

For me, the flagship of Vickery Village in Cumming, Georgia, is Rick Tanner's. We have been a fan of Rick Tanner's since he opened his first rotisserie chicken restaurant in 1986. His place in Vickery Village continues his long history of quality and service and has expanded next door into the wildly popular Cherry Street Brewing. Our favorite at Rick Tanner's is the Sunday Brunch.

Rick Tanner's has a diverse menu that keeps me coming back, but there are plenty of other places to eat in Vickery Village, including Branchwater, Cinco, and Gao Fresh Noodle. Cinco, an excellent Mexican restaurant, not only has an outside patio but a rooftop veranda as well. You can sit and sip margaritas while watching the horses gallop across the way. And after some spicy Mexican, you will want to stop by The Chill Hill for delicious ice cream and frozen yogurt.

The shopping at Vickery Village in Cumming, Georgia, is unique with a decidedly local feel. No mall chain store outlets here. Brits Clothiers, Gems in Art, The Happy Home, and many more are locally owned and operated, and each one has made us feel at home when we entered. This truly does have the feel of a small village where everyone knows everyone and all are welcome.

But a village wouldn't be complete without services, and Vickery Village is no different. If you live in one of the houses and condos that wrap around the village, you will find most of the services you need. Your money is in good hands from financial services at the credit union, Custom Mortgage Services, or the Arseneau Advisory Group. You can get well-groomed at Joseph & Friends Salon & Spa, Tiila's Nails, Vickery Haircuts, and Young's Tailor.

What is a village without children? You can always find them in the park outside The Chill Hill, but there are plenty of services at Vickery Village aimed at the kids. Village Pediatric Dentistry and Village Pediatrics will take care of their medical needs, while The Dojo, Hawk Music Academy, and Mathnasium will tend to their minds and bodies.

The only thing lacking to make the village complete is a full-service grocer and drugstore, but two miles in one direction and four miles in the other is a Publix with a pharmacy. Vickery Village in Cumming, Georgia, is also 15 minutes away from one of the best medical systems in the state and 10 minutes from downtown Cumming proper.

Whether you are looking for a village to grow your family, or just need a dining and shopping getaway, Vickery Village in Cumming, Georgia, fills the bill.

I love Vickery Creek! It's quaint, quiet and not too big. The people I've met there are very kind, not pretentious.
