Nearly half a million dollars worth of illegal cocaine was found washed up on an Alabama beach Thursday, investigators said.

The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Dauphin Island Police Department Thursday morning, deputies said, after officers found packages of cocaine that had washed up on the west end of Dauphin Island.

Investigators said the cocaine weighed approximately 25 kilograms and had a street value of approximately $450,000.

Detectives said they searched the beach but were unable to locate additional packages.

Anyone who happens to spot a suspicious package is asked to call investigators at 251-574-8633.
