Demand for mental health services continues to grow in the United States and right here in Colorado. A recent survey by the American Psychological Association showed that 84% of psychologists who treat anxiety disorders said they have seen an increase in demand for treatment.

My Denver Therapy, one of Colorado's fastest-growing therapy private practices, is living proof of the increased demand for therapy in the Denver area. By opening its new and largest therapy location in Greenwood Village this April, the therapy practice added to its existing offices in Denver, Lone Tree, and Golden.

As part of this expansion into the Denver Tech Center area, the mental health business, which is one of the leading providers of Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy in Colorado, also needed to double its number of therapists on staff to keep up with increased demand and provide more of the types of therapy that clients were seeking—bringing in local therapists from Colorado, along with therapists from Texas, Arizona, and Georgia.

Even with 14 therapists actively meeting with clients, the business has plans to expand its Denver location later this year as generational shifts have made therapy more mainstream.

This year, another survey showed that Gen Zers were almost 3 times more likely to seek therapy compared to older generations. 32% of Gen Zers have seen a therapist since the start of the pandemic, compared to 11% for baby boomers.

The good news is that nearly 70% of people surveyed reported that therapy helped them cope with the pandemic.

With a younger generation that's widely considered more "therapy positive," the spotlight on mental health from professional athletes, and experts questioning if social media is adding to a teen mental health crisis in the US, the need for more therapists and mental health services in Colorado looks like it could continue growing quickly, even in a post-pandemic era.

Psychiatrists are needed!! Therapist are a dime a dozen on every corner. People are not able to get the psychiatric medication they need and NP’s aren’t much help. Chit chat is nice but not the answer. You fail the very sick.
