Figge hosts exhibit by I Spy illustrator

Take a trip through the world of the photographic illustrator behind the I Spy children’s book series at the Figge Museum , 225 W. Second Street in Davenport. Walter Wick will have some of his works on view at the Figge starting July 6. Admission to the Figge is free until July 31. Click here for more information on the exhibit.

Walter Wick: Hidden Wonders! celebrates 50+ of his innovative work. His latest book inspired the exhibit and explores themes that have fascinated Wick, including Miniature Worlds, Floor Games, Craft-Built Worlds, Optical Illusions, I Spy Games, Puzzle Challenges, Wonders of Science, Connecticut Woods and Curiosity Shop. Visitors can see never-before-seen works along with many 3D models used to create his photographs. The exhibit ends on November 17.

“Walter Wick’s photographs have a unique ability to ignite childlike imagination and curiosity in viewers regardless of their age,” said Figge Senior Co-Curator Joshua Johnson. “This exhibition not only showcases his incredible technical ability and creativity as a photographer, but also invites visitors to explore and engage with the intricate magical worlds he creates. We are thrilled for the community to experience this fun exhibition.”

The public has three opportunities to learn more about Wick’s art. An exclusive member reception will be held on Wednesday, July 17 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Figge. An artist talk for families will be on Thursday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m. and a highlights tour night of the display will be offered on Thursday, July 25 at 6 p.m.
