A partnership between Bayaud Enterprises and Atlantis Community Foundation to build a 60-unit apartment complex for people experiencing homelessness likely will get a $3 million infusion from the city.

The South Platte River Committee of the Denver City Council listed a $3 million loan on its agenda for Wednesday. The committee did not meet due to it being a holiday week, but the consent agenda automatically was approved because no one called anything out. The full City Council still must approve the loan, too.

The apartments will serve people earning at or below 30% of the average median income for Denver, or $27,400 annually, according to a memo from city staff to the committee. The units will be permanent supportive housing, and tenants will have Section 8 or Veterans Administration vouchers, according to the memo.

The project will be called Henninger Legacy Homes, the memo states, and Bayaud Enterprises will donate land in exchange for office space in the new building, to be located at 313 W. Bayaud Ave. and 90 S. Elati St. All units will be one bedroom.

Residents of the Henninger will be served by staff at two nearby Atlantis properties, according to the memo, and Bayaud will provide employment and skill development to residents.

Atlantis Community Foundation owns five apartment complexes in Denver including Atlantis Apartments I and II, Harbert House, Liberty House and New Heritage, according to its website.
