Major Shakeup at PCB Mayor's Office - Mark Sheldon out, Stuart Tettemer in

    2024-04-17

This weeks Bay county elections resulted in a major shakeup in the Mayor's office. After a single term, Mayor Mark Sheldon is out and newcomer Stuart Tettemer is in.

Elections were held on Tuesday 4/16/24 with early voting happening in the weeks prior. The final count according to WMBB had Stuart Tettemer taking around 60% of the vote with 2033 votes to incumbent Mark Sheldon's 40 percent at 1496. The lame duck period for Sheldon will be short, expect Tettemer to be sworn in and take office within weeks.

Mark Sheldon had several high profile supporters that publicly endorsed him such as state of Florida CFO and Bay County native Jimmy Patronis as well as Governor Ron Desantis, but despite this he still fell short to Tettemer. Despite being new to the area, Stuart Tettemer managed to garner the support of the Bay County GOP as well as a majority of voters. Tettemer ran an aggressive campaign where he attacked Sheldon in multiple areas he perceived as shortcomings. Specifically Tettemer derided Sheldon's traffic and road construction management as traffic continues to pile up in the area, put down Sheldon's decision to move his company's major concert "Gulf Coast Jam" to the peak of the season, and accused Sheldon of having a conflict of interest between Gulf Coast Jam and what is best for the city of PCB resulting in a $5,000,000 expenditure for a pedestrian walkover at the site of GCJ at taxpayer's expense. Sheldon. Sheldon's rebuttals may have been too few and far between as Tettemer is set to move into City Hall for the next four years.

he was a Democrat he has shown the past 10 years he has become a decent Republican, and hopefully he remains that, if not we will toss him to the curb like the last one! almost anyone would be an improvement so let's give him time to prove himself before we judge him.
