Davidson County woman, 75, dies of injuries following fire and explosion at her house
A Davidson County woman died of injuries she received in a fire and explosion at her house July 5, according to WGHP/Fox 8, the newsgathering partner of the Journal. The station reported that the woman, identified by her family as June Leonard, 75, died shortly after midnight July 6 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where she had been airlifted for treatment. She had suffered severe cuts and burns in the explosion at her home on Old Mountain Road near High Rock Lake.
Lexington man arrested on 16 animal cruelty charges, two dogs found dead
LEXINGTON, N.C. — On July 1, Davidson County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a Lexington home on First Circle, with reports of dead dogs on the front porch. Deputies say investigation revealed that homeowner Christopher Mullins was responsible for the deaths of both dogs. Responders seized an additional 12 dogs from this home.
