84-year-old injured after small plane crashes, Davidson County Sheriff's Office says
DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said an 84-year-old man is injured following a one-seat plane crash in Davidson County. Troopers said they were called about the crash at the Lexington airport around 8:10 p.m. They said the aircraft never took flight but jumped the wheel chocks in the hanger, crossed over two access roads and came to rest on its top.
Elderly woman found injured in North Carolina home with 40 'feral' wolf-dogs as man arrested
A man has been arrested after an elderly woman was found injured in his North Carolina home which he shared with 40 "feral" hybrid wolf-dogs. Melvin “Sonny” Berry, a North Carolina resident was found with 40 "feral" wolf-dogs and a severely "injured" elderly woman in a home described as "uninhabitable for people and dogs" by the County's deputies. He was arrested on June 24, facing charges of one count of felony domestic elderly abuse and neglect with serious injuries and one count of misdemeanor local ordinance charge, and 20 misdemeanor animal cruelty charges. He is now scheduled to appear in Lexington District Court on July 23.

Man charged after two dogs found dismembered on front porch
DAVIDSON COUNTY — A Lexington man is facing felony animal cruelty charges after being accused of dismembering two dogs, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. Officers with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office went to a house on the 200 block of 1st Circle off New Bowers Road in Lexington on June 29 after receiving a report of two dead dogs on the front porch. When they arrived, deputies found on the porch the dismembered remains of a female Rottweiler/pit bull mix that had recently given birth and a male German shepard/husky breed.

Charlotte’s Nucor Steel Building New $20 Million Rebar Factory in Davidson County
This new facility will be adjacent to Nucor’s steel rebar micro mill in Lexington, about 30 miles northeast of Charlotte. The average annual wage for jobs at the new plant will be $65,000, surpassing the county’s average wage of $51,201.
