Nashville Strong Babies Program Goes County-Wide to Support Maternal and Child Health in Davidson County

In a significant boost for maternal and child health, the Metro Public Health Department (MPHD) just extended the reach of its Nashville Strong Babies program to encompass all of Davidson County. Designed as an ally for mothers from pregnancy to their baby’s 18th month, this program is now within reach for the entire community, previously targeted at select zip codes with the highest infant mortality rates, according to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee.
Majority of Guns Reported Stolen in Nashville Taken from Vehicles
The Nashville Police Department strongly encourages Nashvillians to lock their automobile doors, secure any valuables---especially guns, and remove the keys. So far this year, 462 guns have been stolen from vehicles in Nashville, 14 were taken from autos just last week. The total number of guns stolen this year in Davidson County is 649, which means that 71% of guns stolen so far in 2024 have been taken from automobiles. Last year at this same time, 709 guns had been stolen from vehicles, a 34% decrease so far this year.

Dad of woman allegedly murdered by ex-boyfriend reacts to clerk’s office admitting fault
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The father of a young woman allegedly killed by her ex-boyfriend said Nashville’s criminal justice system needs to have more checks and balances. 23-year-old Bricen Rivers was in a Nashville jail after he and 22-year-old Lauren Johansen got into a brutal fight in December during a trip to Nashville. He was behind bars until a few weeks ago when Rivers bonded out and was released from jail without following his bond conditions.
