Shabu Shack will Soon Open in Davis Commons

California-based Japanese hot pot chain Shabu Shack is slated to open in mid-March, taking over the 2,144-square-foot space in Davis Commons at Suite 15 . Shabu Shack is also working on opening a downtown Sacramento location on L Street this spring, as previously reported by What Now Sacramento .

The start of Shabu Shack was a story of unwavering determination, according to co-owner Richard Quang in an email: “My wife worked tirelessly, saving every penny to buy the restaurant when the former owner decided to sell. As the new owner, she expanded the menu, introduced new flavors, and created an inviting atmosphere, turning her modest eatery into a thriving culinary hotspot.”

By this summer, Shabu Shack will have four company-owned restaurants, three of which will be in the Greater Sacramento area. While it’s unclear if the couple intends to push for franchising, there is a franchise inquiry form on the business’s website.

Other eateries at Davis Commons at 500 1st St include Mikuni Japanese Restaurant, Burma Eat, and Local Kitchens. Some businesses at the development have closed over the past year. Currently, only one more retail space is listed as available for direct leasing whereas the 21,609-square-foot main space (Suite 1) is available for sublease.

The Davis Commons location is anticipated to open within a couple of weeks.
