GLENWOOD, Iowa — The Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa is now underway, as the 51st installment began in Glenwood along the Missouri River Sunday morning. The 7-day RAGBRAI will take riders on a southerly route across Iowa, making overnight stops in Red Oak, Atlantic, Winterset, Knoxville, Ottumwa, and Mt. Pleasant before arriving in Burlington Saturday to dip their tires in the Mississippi River.
Union County Teen Arrested Following Accident in Creston
(Creston) A Creston teen faces drunk driving charges after striking two parked cars in Creston on Saturday. Creston Police say the accident happened at 8:53 on Filmore Street. Authorities say 16-year-old Zayle Marie Martin was driving an eastbound 2009 Hyundai Sonata on eastbound on E. Filmore Street, left the road, and struck a 2022 Ford Expedition parked on the roadside. The Sonata continued eastbound, striking another parked vehicle, a 2016 Toyota Avalon. Martin drove away from the scene. However, law enforcement later charged her with OWI.
Creston police report pair of early Monday morning drug arrests
(Creston) -- A pair of Creston suspects face drug charges following their arrests in separate incidents early Monday morning. The Creston Police Department says 44-year-old Ronnee Colleen Abel of Creston was arrested shortly after 1 a.m. for possession of a controlled substance, non-marijuana, 3rd offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Authorities say the arrest occurred in the 500 block of West Adams Street.
