NWS Says At Least 27 Tornadoes In Chicago Area On July 15th
During the evening hours of July 15, a well-organized and long-lived complex of thunderstorms rolled across Iowa, Illinois and parts of Indiana. Widespread damaging winds of 60 to locally 100 mph were observed within the line, especially from eastern Iowa, northern Illinois, and central Illinois. In addition, at least 27 occurred in the NWS Chicago County Warning Area.

Utility and Light Poles Were Damaged in Storm Lake Accident Late Last Week
An accident that involved multiple vehicles caused significant damage and disruption on Friday afternoon in Storm Lake. According to the Storm Lake Police Department, several utility and light poles were struck and severed, which led to power outages across many neighborhoods. The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office and Storm Lake Fire Department assisted in redirecting traffic and blocking streets where power lines were down. The Storm Lake Public Works Department installed four-way stop signs at intersections that lost traffic signals. MidAmerican Energy worked late into the evening on Friday replacing power poles and utility lines.

A couple was arrested after staying in a motel without paying, according to the Ottumwa Police Department. 30-year-old Mercedes Reisch of Eldon (Left) was charged with 3rd degree theft – 2 prior convictions – property not exceeding $750, possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine – 1st offense, and burglary – 3rd degree – non vehicle.
