The 2024 Nominating Committee met on June 27, 2024, and prepared a list of nominations for election of three directors at the Annual Meeting to be held on October 5, 2024. Nominated for directors to be elected by a vote of the members at the Annual Meeting are David Pierce, representing Post #2 (Gilmer County & Fannin County); Travis Cline representing Post #5 (Cherokee County); Reggie Stowers, representing Post #8 (Dawson County & Lumpkin County).

Captain D’s fire will shutter the seafood restaurant temporarily.
Last Thursday, a worker accidentally started a fire at Captain D’s while using a torch while working on the Dawsonville restaurant’s roof. The restaurant is on GA-400, just South of SR-53, next to Culvers. According to Dawson County Fire Chief Troy Leist, 13 emergency vehicles and 20 personnel responded to the commercial structure fire shortly after the noon hour.
