DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — One person has died in an early-morning shooting in Dayton Tuesday.

Police responded around 3:15 a.m. to South Conover and West Fifth streets on a shots-fired call.

Officers found a man, 37, on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head. They administered first aid, but he died on the scene.

Another man, 33, arrived later at a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Separately, two women in a sedan flagged down an officer responding to an unrelated call to point out the multiple bullet holes in their vehicle.

The scene of this morning’s shooting is just a few blocks from where a drive-by shooting in June left seven attendees at a pop-up party wounded, two fatally.

Dayton Police’s Homicide Units continues to investigate. They ask that anyone with information call (937) 333-1232 to speak with detectives. Those who want to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at (937) 222-STOP (7867) or via miamivalleycrimestoppers.com .
