7 Circle of Kindness Great Backpack Give Back event returns on Aug. 6

The 7 Circle of Kindness Great Backpack Give Back is returning on Tuesday, August 6th, benefitting Crayons to Classrooms.

The event will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 , from 12 pm to 7 pm. There will be 3 drop-off locations where school supplies will be collected:

Look for a WHIO-TV, WHIO Radio, or Crayons for Classrooms tent next to:

• Walmart Dayton Mall ( 8800 Kingsridge Dr., Dayton, OH 45458 )
• Walmart Miller Lane ( 3465 York Commons Blvd., Dayton, OH 45414 )
• Walmart Xenia ( 70 Hospitality Dr., Xenia, OH 45385 )

It is not a secret that some teachers end up spending their own money to provide things their students need. Crayons to Classrooms distributes essential supplies to teachers of at-risk students across the Greater Dayton Region to ensure every child has the tools they need to succeed.

The organization serves Clark, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Warren counties. In addition to product donations, Crayons to Classrooms is leveraging an extensive collection of supply chain partners to secure essential school supplies at significantly reduced costs. All collected donations are then distributed at no cost to teachers at the organization’s Dayton store.

According to Crayons to Classrooms, approximately 86.5% of the students in their service area are identified as low-income, and according to local teachers, 70% of their students lack the supplies they need to succeed throughout the school year.

During the 2023-2024 fiscal year, the organization served 2,214 teachers and 54,343 students in 135 schools, including ten childcare centers in the Dayton region, distributing $3,444,963 worth of supplies, setting the kids in the impacted schools up for success.

Over the past two years, the annual Great Backpack Give Back donation drive collected over $40,000 worth of school supplies thanks to the support and generosity of our community.

The 3rd annual 7 Circle of Kindness Great Backpack Give Back in partnership with Morris Home and Ashley will take place on Tuesday, August 6th, at Walmart Dayton Mall , Walmart Miller Lane , and Walmart Xenia . Our teams will be accepting donations at the drop-off locations between noon and 7 PM. Look for WHIO-TV, WHIO Radio, or Crayons to Classrooms tent in the parking lot!
