    Police find 2 men dead in vehicle nearby while responding to shooting

    DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — A large police presence was been seen responding to a shooting incident on Thursday afternoon, marking the seventh shooting incident of the week.

    Montgomery County Regional Dispatch confirmed that police were sent out to a shooting scene on Cleverly Road near Hoover Avenue around 4 p.m. on July 18.

    Upon arrival, officers found one man with gunshot wounds, who medics then transported to a local hospital. His condition is currently unknown.

    While on scene, officers then discovered a vehicle crashed into a nearby home. Two men were found dead inside the vehicle.

    Police cannot confirm if the men were shot, but a sergeant with DPD said they observed bullet holes in the vehicle.

    Residents are calling for an end to violence. One of whom was a man who was shot at in his car. He was forced to walk into a nearby fire station for help.

    “My life was on the line. But God’s got me right here telling everybody put these guns down,” said Gary Pullen. “This is one of the greatest countries in the world, and we have no right to be sitting around here, walking around everywhere we go in the schools, in the movie theaters, in the Wal-Marts and the stores up and down the street, walking with guns and toting guns, intimidating people.”

    While on the scene, 2 NEWS saw multiple roads around Cleverly including Hoover Avenue blocked off with crime scene tape while police were on the scene.

    Police say since the incident occurred in broad daylight, and they hope witnesses will come forward to help with the investigation.

    “At this point in time. We have no suspects at all. People have of point of interest people of interest,” said Dayton Police Sgt. Creigee Coleman.

    Police identify man killed in early-morning shooting on South Conover

    “We need the public’s help in order to solve this crime. Because somebody possibly saw something, somebody possibly heard something. If you have ring, doorbell, camera, please get with the police department or the regional dispatch center so we can solve this crime and bring closure to this family.”

    Dayton Police say the Homicide Unit is actively investigating the incident. Anyone with information or security footage from this incident is urged to contact Dayton PD at 937-333-COPS.
