DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Miami Valley is joining the rest of the world in dealing with the internet outage that hit early Friday morning.

According to the CEO of the cybersecurity company at the heart of the outage , it’s not related to a cyberattack or cybersecurity.

CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz said on Twitter that “the issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed.”

That’s little comfort to people trying to travel Friday morning.

Three of the four airlines that serve Dayton International Airport – Delta, American and United – have grounded their flights. The fourth, Allegiant, has resumed flights but advised customers to expect delays.

United responded to 2 NEWS with a statement:

A third-party software outage impacted computer systems worldwide, including at United. We are resuming some flights but expect schedule disruptions to continue throughout Friday.

    United Airlines

The outage isn’t limited to just airlines. Companies such as Visa and Amazon, as well as government agencies such as Ohio Department of Transportation, are reporting issues. The Middletown Police’s 911 system was down earlier this morning, but restored by 8 a.m.
