Rite Aid plans to close even more stores across Ohio.

According to bankruptcy filings, the drugstore chain plans to shutter 13 more locations in Ohio, along with 18 stores in Michigan, per CBS News. Closing stores include locations in Dayton, Toledo, Lima, Parma and Zanesville.

Which Rite Aid stores are closing in Ohio?

So far, there are 13 more locations that plan to shut down statewide. WKYC lists which stores are on the chopping block:

    • Canal Fulton, 2220 South Locust Street
    • Columbiana, 14973 South Avenue
    • Dayton, 2916 Linden Avenue
    • Lima, 3710 Shawnee Road

If a drug store closes near you, experts recommend that you contact your pharmacy to identify the deadline for transferring your prescriptions to a new pharmacy. It's also recommended to plan ahead in case your new pharmacy does not accept your insurance.

Why is Rite Aid closing Ohio locations?

For Rite Aid, the struggle is ongoing. The chain first filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October 2023, which allowed the company to continue to operate while it handled its outstanding financial woes.

Almost a year later, the 154 stores that it initially planned to shut down have since increased to more than 500 locations.
