A Dayton man is dead after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 75 in Middletown Saturday afternoon, according to a spokesperson from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

A preliminary investigation found that a 36-year-old man from Franklin was driving a 2011 Ford F-150 pick-up truck southbound in the northbound lanes at the time of the crash, according to the spokesperson.

The 36-year-old crashed into a 2016 Nissan sport utility vehicle head-on.

The impact of the crash caused both cars to travel off the left side of the road. Both stopped on the left shoulder against the concrete barrier wall.

Geiner Hidalgo, 46, of Dayton, was driving the Nissan and died on scene, the spokesperson said.

The 36-year-old was transported to Atrium Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the spokesperson, I-75 NB was shut down as crews investigated the crash, but the left two lanes re-opened a short time later.

As of 11 p.m., all lanes on I-75 NB have re-opened.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Lebanon Post is investigating this crash.
