The Dayton Foundation awarding nearly $1 million to area charities

DAYTON. Ohio (WDTN) — A number of area organizations are set to earn significant funding from the Dayton Foundation.

The foundation announced that they are providing a total of $847,100 to charities throughout the Greater Dayton Area. The money will be dispersed through 18 grants.

The grants consist of 7 discretionary grants and 11 Greenlight grants, the latter of which help organizations gather small amounts of money, quickly, for specific projects, program expansions, capital improvements or capacity building.

$795,000 in discretionary grants will be provided to the following charities:

• Dayton Performing Arts Alliance ($30,000)
• Dayton Workforce Coalition ($500,000)
• Hannah’s Treasure Chest ($75,000)
• Miami Valley Urban League ($40,000)
• Preble County Youth Foundation ($75,000)
• Wright Dunbar ($50,000)
• Yellow Springs Home ($25,000)

$52,100 in Greenlight Grants will be awarded to:

• Dayton Dream Center ($6,000)
• Felons with a Future ($5,000)
• Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers ($3,000)
• Greater Edgemont Community Coalition ($5,000)
• Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton ($4,100)
• Joshua Recovery Ministries ($7,500)
• Kids in New Directions (KIND) ($5,000)
• Omega Community Development Corporation ($7,500)
• RaiseSTEM! ($2,500)
• Spectrum New Beginnings ($2,500)
• United Rehabilitation Services ($4,000)
