    Local kids competing in national mullet contest

    DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Voting is now open for the USA Mullet Championships.

    Three kids from the Miami Valley are competing in the 2024 Mullet Championships. The competition seeks to find the best mullet in the country through rounds of voting online.

    Local museum showcases community recovery after Oregon District shooting

    Two local kids are competing in the Kids ages 0-4 category and another is competing in the ages 8-12 category. They need your votes to progress into the next round of competition.

    • Forest Joseph is from Dayton, with his mullet commemorating Dale Earnhardt. Vote for him here .
    • Caleb Mains from Tipp City has been rocking a mullet since just before his second birthday. Vote for him here .
    • Bryson “The Hammer” Bettendorf is from Miamisburg, and his mullet helps him stand out while playing baseball, basketball and football. Vote for him here .

    Round two voting ends on July 30. The winner will be selected on Aug. 28.

    The winner of each age category will walk away with $5,000, a championship belt, a GoPro Hero12 camera and bragging rights for achieving the best mullet.

    Donations generated through the competition go to Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors foundation. In 2023, Mullet Champ raised over $220,000 for the charity throughout the competition.
