DAYTON, Ohio (WANE) – Mere hours after two of their highest-rated prospects were traded, the TinCaps fell on the wrong end of a roller coaster game in an 8-6 loss at Dayton.

With the loss, the TinCaps fall in another series by dropping four of six games on the road this past week.

Dayton scored the first five runs of the game on a fielding error, a 2-run double in the second inning and a 2-run shot in the third.

TinCaps’ Lesko, Bush Jr. traded to Rays

Fort Wayne started their rally in the top of the sixth inning. Devin Ortiz lined in a two RBI double that scored Nik McClaughry and Kai Murphy. Anthony Vilar plated another run on an RBI double in the seventh inning. Murphy then cleared the bases with a three run double to give the TinCaps a 6-5 lead midway through the eighth inning.

Despite the rally, Dayton answered with a three run double in the bottom half of the eighth to take the lead for good.

The TinCaps are off on Monday, then host West Michigan for a six-game series that starts Tuesday.
